Abstract

Mineralogy and  diagenesis of Nahr Bin Umr Formation sandstone   in  Suba oil  field  were  studied by microscopic examination  of  96 thin sections and X- ray  diffraction technique. The mineralogical study revealed that quartz form the dominant clastic minerals.whereas, kaolinite  form the essential clay minerals which demonstrate the long distant of transportation and  the  multi  cycles  of   sedimentation . Compaction, pressure solution, cementation, replacement, and dissolution, form the main outstanding diagenesis processes. The  first  three processes causing the formation damage, while the last two processes enhance the reservoir properties.
