The family Orbitolinidae occurred considerably in the Cretaceous rocks of Iraq, especially through the geological period of Barremian-Cenomanian. The occurrence of its individuals shows many development aspects. The tracking of development aspects depend on using four parameters. These parameters arranged in hierarchical order according to their importance from taxonomic point of view. Of these, the individuals of this family show an obvious development accompanied their embryonic apparatus, as well as the other characters, as time progressed. From this, four main independent phylogenetic lineages are discriminated within Barremian-Cenomanian time interval.

These evolutionary lines usefully applied to discriminate the lithological units comprising them.
