Abstract

A new orbitolinids Sayyabellus scutulus n.gen.n.sp observed and discussed in the Late Barremian-Early Aptian strata of Iraq. The embryonic area of this new gnus and new species consists of minute protoconch under initial spiral part where the supraembryonic area is ill defined. This criterion differs from the criterion of the valid genera o the family Orbitolinidae. This new genus belongs to the subfamily Dictyoconinae and presents a close connection with the genus Palorbitolina.
