The present research deals with the geomorphic
development of middle part of Khor Al-Zubair, to
determine the stage of the development and the effect of
some subsurface structures that controlled its overall
morphology.
The present study depends upon the employment of the
available Arial photographs and the morphometric
analyses of the study area to determine the general
characteristics, as well as to construct a geomorphic
map for the study area, then to suggest a general
classification of the Khor Al-Zubair geomorphic
features.
This study proved that the middle part of Khor
Al-Zubair represents an active basin of erosional and
depositional processes, these processes play an
important role in determining the drainage water
networks and the distribution of the prominent Khor
Al-Zubair geomorphic features; Tidal flats, and
dendritic drainage patterns. The latter geomorphic
phenomenon is attributed to the wide distribution and
the homogeneity of clayey-silty bed overall the Khor
Al-Zubair area. Moreover the Arial photographs revealed
that the eastern parts of Khor Al-Zubair Basin seams to
be affected by ancient irrigation systems.
