Hussin  Juban Aurabi Al_Mu'ridhi

Abstract

The southern part of Mesopotamia was studied in detail by using remote sensing data. The effect of geology  and structure  have been  superimposed upon the land form of the study area.

Physiographically, the area under study  have been divided  into natural Levees, the mountain, Alluvial fan, depression and vallies.

The land systems of the study area were delineated by using arial photographs, satellite images, and topographic maps of different scales. This land system is characterized by gently-sloping surfaces. The overall expression  of the land system is discordant with the soil.

The soils characteristics were also studied , it has been  found that the soils are mainly loam and silty loam.

From the applied gromorphological point of view, it has been found that the area under study  are used for agricultural, industrial and residential purposes, as well as oil industry.
